Distribution deal for The Shutdown
During the Cannes Film Festival, Accidental Media signed a distribution deal for its award-winning film “The Shutdown”. Hamburg-based Short Film Sales will handle global distribution for the film directed by Adam Stafford and written by Alan Bissett.
Returning from Cannes, editor/producer Peter Gerard says, “We are thrilled to be working with a boutique short film distributor who hand picks the best 15-20 short films each year and brings them to a wider global audience.”
Short Film Sales is already negotiating a broadcast sale in Portugal. “The Shutdown” recently won Best Short Doc at the prestigious San Francisco International Film Festival and will be screening in New York City, Vienna, Sydney and the Guardian Hay Festival in the next few weeks.
Penned and narrated by successful author and playwright Alan Bissett, “The Shutdown” has been one of the most successful Scottish short films of the past year, sweeping up both the audience and jury prizes at the Jim Poole Awards in 2009 and earning a nomination for a BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award in 2010. So far it has been selected for nearly 20 international festivals.
